Special Meaning
This year, on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the birth of the Minerva Watch Factory, the Montblanc brand pays tribute to the centuries-old watchmaking tradition of the Minerva Watch Factory and introduces several new 1858 series timepieces. Back to 160 years ago, Charles-Yvan Robert founded a watchmaking workshop in a small village in the Saint-Milan Valley. Then with its superb watchmaking technology, the Minerva watch factory emerged in the watchmaking world and was recognized. To this end, on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the Montblanc, Montblanc re-interpreted the retro style with the brand’s unique design aesthetics, innovative and complex craftsmanship, mixed materials and various case sizes, and reinvigorated the 1858 series with fearless spirit. The brand new timepiece inherits the watchmaking classics of the Minerva watch factory and incorporates innovative elements to bring a new look and feel. Next, let’s take a look at the Montblanc 1858 Champagne 40MM Stainless Steel Men’s Automatic Wristwatch U0119065.
Years Left Traces Showing Retro Style
The retro design of the Montblanc 1858 series timepiece is rooted in the professional military timepieces of the last 1920s and 1930s, showing the brand’s retro style. The case of this new timepiece is made of a mix of steel and bronze, and the innovative mix of materials presents two different look and feels. In addition, the bronze material itself is easily oxidized, and it is colored with a touch of green as time and environment changes, showing a sense of history. The grooved crown emulates an antique timepiece with a sapphire crystal glass for added sturdiness and beauty.
Case
The case of intage Montblanc 1858 Champagne-colored Automatic Leather Strap Watch is satin-finished to reduce the effects of accidental scratches on the watch’s appearance. The lower edge of the beveled lug is polished to give it a slim look.
Crown
The grooved crown is designed to emulate an antique timepiece, it is engraved with a polished hexagonal logo and surrounded by non-slip textures to ensure the convenience of the watch.
Dial
The smoky champagne gradient dial and the bronze bezel echo each other, with a track-shaped minute scale circle to create a retro style. The “cloisonné” designed cathedral-style pointer is full of historical charm in style, with finely polished sides that are arched and slightly raised. Arabic numerals and hands are covered with Super-LumiNova® coating to ensure a clear and intuitive reading. At the 12 o’clock position, the Montblanc classic logo style is featured, and the peak pattern of Mont Blanc is written in historical fonts.
Movement
The brand new timepiece with aged ochre calf leather strap, made by the Pelletteria leather factory in Florence, Italy, with a steel pin buckle, looks retro and stylish. This watch is equipped with an MB 24.15 automatic movement that provides approximately 38 hours of power reserve when fully loaded. The back of the watch is designed with a dense bottom to protect the interior of the movement. And it is engraved with the Mont Blanc mountain range, a compass and two hailstones that cross each other, demonstrating the exploration spirit of Montblanc’s mountains, with full commemorative significance.
