Montblanc inherits the watchmaking tradition of Minerva and holds a unique position in the watchmaking world. This year, the new Montblanc 1858 series watches draw inspiration from Minerva’s professional military and mountain adventure watches from the 1920s and 1930s, blending in the magical elements of nature, using green as the main color, showing the retro and vintage timepiece of modern aesthetics. (Watch model: U0119909)
The biggest highlight of the watch is the two rotating three-dimensional hemispheres on the dial, which show the world time through these two hemispheres. The northern hemisphere above the dial rotates counterclockwise, and the southern hemisphere below rotates clockwise. The two hemispheres rotate one day per day on a 24-hour basis, and the day and night changes appear between small square inches, which is very special.
The diameter of the watch is 42 mm, the case is made of bronze, and the khaki green dial reflects the retro charm.
The bi-directional rotating bronze bezel is equipped with green ceramic, which is engraved with the basic orientation, and the side is grooved for easy operation. The case naturally extends to the lugs and presents a certain degree of curvature, ensuring that it fits perfectly on the wrist when worn.
The design of the khaki green dial is very special. The northern and southern hemispheres are set at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock, respectively, and are surrounded by a 24-hour scale. The white meridian representing the prime meridian was purposely coated with a white luminous coating of Super-LumiNova® to enhance contrast. The second time zone time display is set at 9 o’clock, and the local time date display can be read at 3 o’clock. This design is quite impressive.
The watch is paired with a khaki green NATO strap, which highlights the adventurous spirit that the brand has always been pursuing. It is full of sporty and vitality and can be matched with casual and formal wear.
The MB29.25 movement comes from the master watchmaker of Villeret. It can provide 42 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters. The back of the case is engraved with the classic Mont Blanc mountain pattern, as well as a compass and two ice axes, showing Montblanc’s mountain adventure spirit.
Montblanc combines the aesthetics of watchmaking with the adventurous spirit of nature in the watch. The bronze case hits khaki green, which makes the watch full of personality and style. It also meets the modern people’s daring to express themselves and pursue authentic characteristics.
